Over 25 dolphins in various sizes seen directly off pokai bay.  Observed one with red tag on right side. Activity level active.  Several small green sea turtles off Makaha Beach Resort. All healthy.

7:30 AM - 40-50 dolphins cited at 7:30 off of Maile Point
11:00 AM - pod of approximately 60 or more dolphins off of Maile Point and
12:30 - 5 humpback whales observed off of Kaena point – heading north

Honolulu, HI. :  SeaHawaii Inc. proudly celebrates their first year anniversary offering the newest, most exciting dolphin and whale watching snorkel cruise on the beautiful Leeward coast of Hawaii.  Their Nani Wahine – (RHIB) Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat was custom-designed for comfortable Dolphin and Whale watching in our Hawaiian waters.  Beginning April 2008, SeaHawaii will offer tourists an anniversary special with a buy one get one free offer on their Dolphin tours and invite everyone to experience their intimate ocean experience with the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins. Departing out of the Waianae Boat Harbor seven days a week their USCG- certified captains will lead small groups of passengers on a breathtaking journey along the Waianae Coast of Oahu.
“Both visitors and locals alike have enjoyed swimming with the Hawaiian Spinner dolphins and snorkeling adventure cruise as it is an unbelievable experience. The dolphins acrobatic flips and spins across the crystal blue water is amazing to see and will create memories to last a lifetime.  Everyday on the water is a new and unique adventure” said Captain Walter Pickard of the Nani Wahine.
The experience of watching dolphins jump and frolic from a 32 foot inflatable raft with twin 225 HP Honda engines, create an adrenaline rush of excitement to add to the experience. This custom-designed ocean raft is small, quiet and quick enough to get to the dolphins immediately as their level of activities increase. With custom-padded pod and bench seats with shade and secure storage – The Nani Wahine provides an intimate dolphin viewing experience not possible on larger boats used by other tour companies. While the SeaHawaii crew follows the laws of marine life, it is not uncommon for extremely close encounters as the pods of up to one hundred spinners might curiously surround the boat or experience a breaching whale and snorkel with turtles. Creating a photographic memory of a lifetime. 
The captain and crew remain with the small group of not more than 22 passengers, explaining the culture of the land, its shoreline and the habits of the Hawaiian spinner dolphins as well as the seasonal whale and other marine life. After the viewing d swimming with the Hawaiian spinners, passengers will have the opportunity to participate in some of the best snorkeling on Oahu and will experience the unspoiled, undisturbed reefs and the abundant marine life below.

An experience I'll remember for a lifetime!

So yesterday morning was one of those experiences you'll remember for a lifetime. We went whale/dolphin watching/snorkeling. We chose SeaHawaii because they didn't tout their on board buffet. Many of these outfits are on large boats with "tourists". Might as well just go to an aquarium for as close up you'll be.

SeaHawaii is run by two native brothers, Walter and Tommy. Great guys. Walter picked us up at 6:30am for the hour drive to the west coast.

We boarded the small zodiac boat and headed out to sea. We had nothing but good luck.
About 10 minutes out we spotted a whale. Over the course of the two hour trip we saw that whale and another surface a few times, spout water, and breech 5 times!

Soon after the whale spotting we came across a school of Spinner dolphins. They were in fairly deep water of about 40 feet. It's on the verge of too risky due to shark territory. They just weren't coming in any closer so the decision was made to jump anyway.

We all jumped in and followed the school for awhile. We frightened them so they swam at the bottom . Still, because of the amazing clarity of the water that day we were able to see them easily. Yet another piece of luck. Oh, and the Pacific was very calm.

We boarded the boat when we lost track of the school. About 10 minutes later we found them again and dove back in. As before they headed to the bottom. We again followed them above. Suddenly they all began surfacing about 50 feet in front of us. It was heart stopping.

Back on board the boat we headed closer to shore to snorkel over the coral reefs. We swam amazingly close (5-10 feet) with giant turtles and saw a great array of colorful fish.
